Tourism Industry: Over 10,000 foreign tourists visit Shwedagon Pagoda

Regarding the tourism industry, during two months of January and February this year, over 10,000 foreign tourists visited the Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon,according to the pagoda board of trustees – 5,349 in January and 6,088 in February, totally 11,437.

It’s reported that 20,000 to 30,000 pilgrims visit the Shwedagon Pagoda a day. On special occasions and public holidays, there are over 50,000 pilgrims.On the full moon days, over 277,000 people visit the Pagoda.During the covid-19 outbreak, the flow of foreign tourists was suspended.Beyond the Covid period, the number of visitors has increased gradually.
