Hailing the 78th Armed Forces Day: Water supply to summer crop fields with electric pumping system

Hailing the 78th Armed Forces Day, a ceremony to distribute water to the summer paddy fields in Shar Sae Phoe village by using electric pumpuing system from Hsin Thae dam was held at the Shar Sae Phoe village primary school in Zeyathiri Township on Friday.

At the ceremony, Union Minsiter for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung said that currently, the creek blockings and water pumping works are being carried out along Hsin Thae and Palwe creeks and the implementing tasks in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area benefit to more than 1800-acre of agricultural lands.

The Shar Sae Phoe water pumping will benefit 166-acre of summer paddy crops by taking the water from the solar water pump to Mine Nar No. 5 channel of irrigation. He urged farmers to make efforts for developing their business by choosing crops that would be cost-effective.

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe encouraged famers to make joint ventures with businessmen to ensure marketable agricultural production with strong input capital.

Similarly, distribution of seeds, disseminating method and the way to form agricultural product cooperative society to connect getting capital should be carried out. He said that if the farmers want to join together and form a cooperative society, the Ministry will support the needs.

Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Tin Oo Lwin said that Nay Pyi Taw Council area is being implemented as a model region for comprehensive development based on the agricultural sector.

Emphasis is being made on the improvement of the rural areas where the majority of the population lives and increasing the income of individual farmers. He called on local farmers to make efforts on cultivation throughout the year by using crop pattern that are suitable with them, increasing their income and improving living standard.

It was followed by launching of water supply with eletric water pumping from Hsin Thae creek. Officials of the Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department and a farmer representative formally opened the ceremony.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi and a member of Nay Pyi Taw Council started to distribute water from No.1 and No.2 water pumps.

The Union Minister, the Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and those presents observed water supply by electric pumping system from Hsin Thae creek and arrangements for summer cultivation in the fields of farmers.
