EU Commissioner tours Canadian battery facility

Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau hosted European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for a two-day visit to Canada from March 6 to 8.

The visit aim to ramp up production of homegrown renewable energy, requiring access to critical minerals and raw materials like lithium. The two did a walkthrough of a Li-Cycle Lithium-ion Battery Recycling Facility, examining how raw material is taken from the batteries. The Leaders shared progress on pursuing energy security and sustainable economic growth.
