Workshop on ISO/IEC 17065:2012: MoST Union Minister gave an opening speech

The workshop, on ISO/IEC 17065:2012. Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services, organized by the Department of Research and Innovation under the Ministry of Science and Technology, was held at the Mingalarthiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on Monday and the Chair of National Standards Council Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw gave an opening speech.

In his speech, the Union Minister said the trainees who completed the training of ISO/IEC 17065:2012 are congratulated. With strength of such human resources, it will facilitate to carry out the conformity assessment, implementation of ASEAN Single Window System for the ASEAN regional trade as well as benefits for the MSMEs and other businesses to gain market competitiveness on their products with full accreditation.

For the implementation of those processes, the workshop is one of the crucial processes. At the second part of the event, the deputy ministers Dr. Aung Zayya, Dr. Aung Gyi, U Win Pe and director general of the Department of Research and Innovation Dr. Phyu Phyu Win presented the ISO/IEC 17065:2012 certificate of completing Award of Certificates to representatives of participants of Training.

The workshop was conducted with aim at establishing Model Certification Body with the cooperation of training instructors who were awarded the acknowledgement certificate, inspector officials and Regulatory Authority. It will strengthen the bodies certifying products, processes and services and be benefited for the socio-economic development of the country.

The workshop was attended by the members of National Standards Council, members of Working Committee, members of technical Sub-Committees, Project Team Leader and 80 trainees who completed the training on ISO/IEC 17065:2012, it’s learnt.
