





Eye surgical treatments are being provided to 200 eye patients monthly from Upper Myanmar at Mandalay Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital.
Deputy Director, Public Health Department, Dr. Win Naing said "Around 200 eye patients per month and 2,400 eye patients are receiving surgical treatment on a yearly basis. Mandalay Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital is systematically working on the opening of out-patients department and providing surgical treatment. Patients can receive eye surgical treatment not only in this hospital but also in Eye Hospitals in Sintgaing, Meilkhtila, Nyaungoo, Myingyan and Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay Region. Around 2,500 eye patients are yearly receiving treatment in Sintgaing eye hospital."
Surgical treatments are being provided to patients, dividing into 2 sections such as ear, Nose, and throat (ENT) and ophthalmology.
Medical Superintendent, Mandalay Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Hospital, Dr. Toe Toe said "Treatments are being provided to around 50 to 80 in-patients and around 180 to 200 out patients on a daily basis. We’re waiting to provide medical services to patients at any time by solving their difficulties as soon as possible. "
According to the WHO’s statistics, there are about 246 million population who suffered from vision impairment and 39 million blind people. 65% of patients are over 50 years of age and 80% of visually impaired persons have preventable and treatable eye diseases according to today’s advanced technology. Treatments are provided at eye hospitals in Mandalay Region.
