Rain from a winter storm continues to cause problems for the Los Angeles area, the latest along tony Mulholland Drive in the hills above the city. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson says a retaining wall on a terraced hillside below a home gave way and mud flowed downhill onto Mullholland Drive.

The home was not directly damaged but its elderly occupant and his caretaker evacuated to a neighbor's home. California is still digging out from a series of almost nonstop storms. San Bernardino County, east of Los Angeles, declared a state of emergency after many mountain residents were trapped in their homes over the weekend and hundreds of motorists were stranded.
