LA region's 1st blizzard warning since 1989

The San Diego National Weather Service office said it issued its first blizzard warning, covering the mountains of San Bernardino County from 4 a.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday.

San Bernardino County lies east of Los Angeles County, where the first mountain blizzard warning since 1989 takes effect at the same time.Students got a snow day Thursday after a blanket of white fell on parts of Yucaipa and Calimesa, small cities high on the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains about 70 miles east of Los Angeles.
