Chinese FM on security, Iran nuclear deal, N. Korea

China’s foreign ministry on Tuesday reiterated its support for the restoration of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. Foreign minister Qin Gang told a global security forum in Beijing that China have actively promoted the resumption of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action to uphold the legitimate rights and interests of relevant countries, and safeguard the international nuclear non-proliferation system.”

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is an agreement reached in 2015 that limits Iran’s nuclear program.  Qin said that China was faced with an escalation of external suppression and containment and also emphasized establishing a “peace mechanism” and “denuclearization process” on the Korean Peninsula.
