Macron on first trip in France since pension reform

French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday visited a massive produce market that supplies the capital and surrounding region with much of its fresh food, in his first official outing since the country's pension reform bill passed to the Senate.

Macron said that people must work longer to ensure their pensions can be financed. The pension reform bill raises the minimum retirement age for a full state pension from 62 to 64. It’s the flagship legislation of Macron’s second term.His government has vowed to go ahead with the reform despite nationwide protests and strikes. The Senate is scheduled to considering the bill on March 2.
