Efforts for tourism industry: MoHT met stakeholders of tourism industry

As the tourism industry is supporting for socio-economic development of the locals, the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism is implementing for the long-term sustainable development of the industry in cooperation with relevant ministries, region/state governments and hotels and tourism associations.

In the morning on 20th February, the Union Minister U Aung Thaw met with Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and region ministers at the region government office discussed the development of the tourism sector in Yangon Region.

In the afternoon, the union minister met with the chairmen of Myanmar Tourism Federation and fraternal associations, CEC members, chairmen and CEC members of tourism promotion work groups, hoteliers, responsible officials from the hotels running with foreign investments and the officials from hotels in Yangon Region at the Inya Lake hotel.

At the meeting, the union minister said the meeting is intended to draw plans and implement for the development of tourism industry with the collaboration of all stakeholders. The suggestions gained from this discussion will be reviewed by the ministry, draw the plans and implement with the cooperation of the association to be affective within a short time etc.

Next, the responsible officials from the Tourism Federation and fraternal associations reported the implementing measures for the development of tourism industry and the work plans to be implemented and the director general of the directorate of hotel and tourism U Maung Maung Kyaw supplemented necessaries.

In responding to the reports and discussions, the union minister coordinated requirements, it’s learnt.
