Blinken visits airbase, pledges 100 million USD to Turkiye aid

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited one of the provinces worst-affected by last week's earthquake in southern Turkiye and northern Syria on Sunday and pledged a further 100 million USD in aid to help the region. He toured Turkiye’s Hatay province from the air with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. 

The additional aid includes 50 million USD in emergency refugee and migration funds and 50 million USD in humanitarian assistance. US President Joe Biden announced 85 million USD for Turkiye and Syria days after the earthquake that has killed more than 44,000 people in the two countries.
