Tourism Industry Development: Taninthayi Region Tourism Work Committee meets

Taninthayi Region Tourism Work Committee held its coordination meeting (1/2023) at the Regional Government Office in Dawei on Friday.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Work Committee the Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko said that Taninthayi Region is an interesting place for tourism industry and it has delayed in development of tourism industry due to various reasons.

Officials from the departments related with tourism industry and private sector are urged to preserve the existing destinations to be sustainable for the development of tourism industry in the region and it needs to promote tour destinations to be widely known by local and abroad.

He added that the tourism industry can support a lot for the development of socio-economic life of the region. He called for the regional government to strive constantly in cooperation with related Union Ministries, partner organizations, relevant departments and private organizations, entrepreneurs and locals for the development of tourism industry in the region. 

Later, the Secretary of the Working Committee reported on progress of the decisions of previous meeting and applying license according to service sector and committee members discussed sustainable development of hotel and tourism industry in the region on which the Chief Minister coordinated essentials.
