Oldest Hebrew Bible to go up for sale

Sotheby's is auctioning off the oldest and most complete Hebrew Bible ever discovered. The Codex Sassoon was written in the late ninth to early tenth century. Composed of 24 books, the Hebrew Bible makes the up the foundation for Judaism as well as Christianity, in which these texts are referred to as the Old Testament.

The Codex Sassoon is most valuable printed manuscript or historical document by estimate ever offered at auction. Coming to auction for the first time in more than 30 years, the book is expected to fetch between 30 and 50 million USD. The auction will be in May.
