Rescue workers were passing people pulled from the rubble of collapsed buildings along a human chain to safety on Saturday in the Turkish town Nurdagi. Search and rescue teams saved five members of a family from the wreckage of their home in the hard-hit city in Turkiye's Gaziantep province.

Monday’s 7.8-magnitude earthquake followed by other earthquakes and aftershocks collapsed thousands of buildings, killing more than 24,500 people, injuring another 80,000 and leaving millions homeless across Turkiye and neighbouring country Syria. Rescue teams using thermal cameras to locate signs of life are continuing to pull survivors out of mounds of rubble, five days after the major earthquake struck.
