Doug Emhoff, the husband of U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, addressed leaders at the United Nations on Thursday in a roundtable on combatting anti-semitism. Emhoff is the first Jewish spouse of either a U.S. president or vice president.

In a six-day your of Poland and Germany last month, Emhoff took part in discussions meant to further the Biden administration's work combatting antisemitism and to deepen ties with U.S. partners. In his speech at the UN, Emhoff said there is a need for greater education to combat a rise in anti-semitism in the US and abroad.

He criticized comedians and celebrities for using "anti-Semitism to draw cheap laughs. ""We cannot normalize this. But in order to combat anti-Semitism, we need everyone to be committed and unified in this mission," he said.
