Pakistan holds talks with UAE president

Emirati President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in the Pakistani city of Rahim Yar Khan on Wednesday, where he was welcomed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other officials. According to Emirati news agency WAM, the pair discussed the relations between the two countries as well as trade and development.

Two weeks ago, Sharif visited Abu Dhabi where he had been hosted by Sheikh Mohammed. The UAE at the time agreed to extend a $2 billion loan to his country and provide an additional $1 billion as Pakistan struggles to recover from devastating floods this summer and a dire economic crisis. UAE is the home to some 1.7 million Pakistanis, many manual laborers that power its economy and send money back to their nation.
