Amsterdam hosts National Tulip Day

The Netherlands' National Tulip Day was celebrated in Amsterdam on Saturday as the production of tulips continues at full speed ahead of the season. As part of the annual event, a picking garden with 200,000 tulips was created in the Museumplein garden.

The event started with a fire display, while thousands of visitors were waiting to pick up free tulips. The Netherlands is the world's biggest tulip producer. Over the season, Dutch producers grow between 1.7 and 1.9 billion tulips, which are exported to more than 100 countries worldwide.
