Yellen discusses future of US-Africa relations

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen emphasised her desire to "deepen" her country's engagement with Africa during an interview with The Associated Press in Senegal on Saturday. The Biden administration is trying to signal its support for improving the economies of African countries, many of which have young populations that will eventually make those nations the drivers of growth in decades to come.

Speaking in Dakar, Yellen said that they saw a rapidly growing young population that needs job opportunities and economic growth and in trying to help African countries meet those objectives, they saw a win win, greater opportunities in Africa and benefits to the United States where it will provide jobs and help US businesses.
