Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge-I: Reopening of the bridge aimed at better transportation

The Myanmar-Thai friendship Bridge-I on the Thailand –Myanmar border has been reopened on 12th January this year, according the sources. The bridge was shut down on 23rd March 2020, due to the COVID-19 infections. Officials from both countries had already discussion about the reopening of the bridge.

The bridge is the major border trading route between Myanmar and Thailand. During the shutdown of Bridge-I, the border trade activities is being carried out at Bridge-II. After reopening of the Bridge-I, it will bring about job opportunities for locals and better transportation between two countries, it’s learnt.
