Honey exportation: about 1217.18 metrictons of honey exported to foreign markets

Myanmar exported about 1217.18 metric tons of honey worth 1.825 US dollars to the foreign markets in the past 9 months between April and December last year according to the Apiculture Division under the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department. Myanmar mainly delivered honey to the Republic of Korea, Japan, American, China, and Singapore.

Myo Tint, Deputy Director, Apiculture Division, said " We has been exported about 1217.18 metric tons of honey to the foreign markets through the border gate. We mostly exported honey to Japan and followed by Singapore. According to the beekeeping calendar, from September to December are the best period for honey production. Perennial honey also produced in February and March, and the production range has reached to second stage. Beekeepers and farmers have win-win situation from the Beekeeping with the way of bee pollination. However, this year’s honey production may be slightly decline than previous years due to the limited areas."

Apiculture and honey production businesses are primarily found in Shan, Kachin, Kayin and Kayar States, Sagaing, Bago, Magway, Mandalay and Yangon Region, it’s learnt.
