Agriculture and Livestock Breeding: Sunflower plantation and Dairy Cow Farm inspected

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr Aung Gyi visited winter sunflower plantation in ThapyayTan Village-tract of Pobbathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw on 7th January.

In meeting with the local farmers, the Deputy Minister said the ministry is encouraging for extended cultivation of sunflower and oil bearing crops for sufficiency of local consumption and exporting the edible oil.

Arrangements have also been made for providing technologies and requirements. He urged all to grow the quality species, to use fertilizers in a balance ratio and to use modern farming equipment.

In response to the reports of farmers, officials from the departments explained matters on the use of fertilizer, systematic usage of irrigated water, implementation of integrated farming and livestock breeding and farmland law and regulations.

The Deputy Minister later inspected weeding and spraying insecticide in the sunflower plantation. The Deputy Minister and party later arrived at dairy cow breeding farm on Yangon-Mandalay Express Road and inspected the work processes.

The Deputy Minister instructed for spreading the breeding technique of dairy cows, breeding a wide range of dairy cows in the region and promoting private investments for boosting production of value-added dairy products, meeting the international standards.
