China has given the green light to resume trading activities at the Muse-Kyalgaung-Ruili border gate that was shut down nearly 3 years admit Covid-19 outbreak. Reopening of the Muse-Kyalgaung-Ruili border gate is set take place this month.

Vice Chairman, Rice Wholesale Centre(Muse Township), Min Thein, said " After some border gates were closed, trade between Muse and Ruilihalted because China did not allow both people and vehicles. So, a lot of impacts can be found on border trading. Border trading can recover like before Covid-19 outbreak if the gate reopens. So, as a trader, I welcome it. "

Reopening of the border gate raises hopes to make China-Myanmar trade well, the Vice Chairman added.

Vice Chairman, Rice Wholesale Centre(MuseTownship), Min Thein, said " Before, only 1 gate is open and it’s crowded and busy. At that time, we run with the driver-substitution system that cost more, and we also encountered delay. If the gates are reopened and driver-substitution system is removed, costs will be reduced for traders. In addition, we can save time.I assume that reopening of the border gates raise hopes to make China-Myanmar trade well."

There are three border points - Mang Wein, Nann Taw and Sin Phyu in Muse Township. China has restricted border access through those checkpoints since 2020 April. Starting from the 8thof January 2023, all the gates will be reopened for legaltrading and border crossing.
