Three kings' parade delights families in Madrid

Madrid's traditional Three Kings paraded through the city’s main avenue Thursday evening, performing for children and adults who packed the route. This year was a return to the tradition of throwing thousands of sweets to children along the three kilometre parade.

Christians believe that the Feast of the Epiphany celebrates the Three Kings or Three Wise Men who followed a bright star to offer gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh to the new-born baby Jesus in Bethlehem. Christmas gifts are traditionally given on the day of the Feast of the Epiphany in Spain and also in many Latin American countries.
