Austrian ski resort suffers in record warm winter

Skiers in Austria's resort of Filzmoos were resigned to drifting down a single slope on Thursday, as record temperatures melted most of the region's snow. Temperatures rose up to 7 degrees on Wednesday and cold weather and new snow is not forecast in the near future.

The last snow fell on December 16th and only 20 centimeters of snow were left in the valley, with 35 on the mountain. The UN's World Meteorological Organization has long warned about the ill-effects of climate change, and say the last eight years have been the eight hottest on record.
