Transportation Sector: SAC Chairman visits Locomotive Factory (Insein)

Chairman of the State Administration Council [SAC] Prime Minister Senior General Min AungHlaing on Wednesday met with officials and staff from the locomotive factory (Insein) of Myanma Railways in Insein Township of Yangon Region.

In the meeting, the Senior General said that if there is political unity, the country will progress. There will be prosperity only if the economic drive is good. In various countries of the world, countries with good economic drivers are influential.

The 2008 Constitution gives all ethnic groups equal rights and federal rights. In order to achieve internal peace, peace talks are also being held with ethnic armed organizations. During the meetings with ethnic leaders and political leaders, the Tatmadaw has discussed and agreed to amend possible issues in the Constitution.

Political stability and economic development are necessary for the development of the country. The Senior General added that the rail transport plays a crucial role in driving the state’s economy. In implementing the economic development, it needs to enrich human resources to have investment fund, above ground and underground resources and to have access to electricity and good transportation and communication systems. Efforts are being made to make the rail transportation system faster and more efficient than now.

It needs to carry out continuous upgrading and maintenance of rail-roads. Similarly, trains, locomotives, passenger and cargo coaches need to be constantly maintained. Efforts must be made to be able to run all railway networks to speed up the flow of commodities and for people to be able to travel at low prices.

The responsibly of Locomotive Factory (Insein) is manufacturing and assembling of locomotives which are the main part of the entire train and maintenance tasks. Only then locomotives are strong, Myanmar's railway sector will also develop.  The Senior General pointed out that the locomotive factory (Insein) was built more than 100 years ago.

It has been about 150 years since trains started to be used in Myanmar and so it has a lot of experience.He stressed on manufacturing locomotives in the country based on these experiences and electric locomotives and called on the staff to make constant learning, to practice for good health and take duties responsibly.

Then, the Senior General asked about the needs of the staff from the locomotive factory (Insein) and then presented food stuff for the staff. After the meeting, the Senior General and party cordially greeted the railways staff. They then looked into manufacturing and assembling of locomotives, maintenance and producing spare parts.

The Senior General and party then inspected a trial-run of locomotive that is maintained the steam locomotive as a coal-burning steam locomotive. The Senior General and party then had lunch together with the staff of Myanma Railways and the locomotive factory (Insein).
