Meeting with Coffee Entrepreneurs: SAC Chairman met with Coffee entrepreneurs

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met coffee entrepreneurs of PyinOoLwin, Mandalay Region, at the Township hall in the morning on December 2nd.

First, the director general of the Agriculture Department Dr. Ye Tin Tun clarified the coffee growing, production and exporting, status of growing coffee and other crops in Pyin Oo Lwin, land use and fiend inspection on ground, supervising on coffee growing to grow coffee  on the permitted coffee cultivated land systematically in line with the rules, law and procedures.

Next, the coffee entrepreneurs reported the status of exporting domestic producing coffee to the international markets, requirements to be supported for the coffee production industry, systematic re-assessment on the construction of building regarding with the cultivation on the coffee cultivated land and production, the requirement to entitle the decent tax relief on the coffee products, industrial used motor vehicles, requirement of capital loan subsidies etc.

Regarding with the discussion and clarifications, the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister said that the coffee cultivation project has been carried out since the military government, the reviewing was performed after taking the state responsibilities, the ministry of agriculture, livestock and irrigation needs to systematically supervise to grow the coffee fully on the coffee project lands.

As the coffee cultivation in Pyin Oo Lwin facilitates the regional development and the region economy and the development of it will be carried out. The ECO Tourism regarding with the coffee cultivation and tax issues will be scrutinized, GAP certificates are being issued systematically in the line with the rules, as long as getting the good practices, the relaxation will be granted.

Then, the Union Minister U Hla Moe of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Union Minister U Khin Maung Yi of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation reported the status of fulfilling by the government regarding the requirements submitted by the entrepreneurs, the requirements to actually grow coffee on the land requested for it and not to use land in other ways, the conditions of issuing notices very often to the entrepreneurs who failed to obey the rules in the contracts and do not grow coffee actually, the requirements to coordinate with the relevant ministries regarding the necessary techniques, inputs and capitals in the growing coffee.

In his remark, the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister said that it’s been about 10 times of inspection tours across the country to develop the MSMEs for the economic development of the country. Among them, for the development of the coffee industry, the entrepreneurs were met often in such Pyin Oo Lwin and discussed for necessaries and fulfilled the requirements.

For the development of MSMEs, four requites such as raw materials, inputs, capital and good human resources are needed to be completed. In meeting with the entrepreneurs in the regions and states, they reported the requirements of raw materials and good human resources. The industries which use the domestic raw materials are needed to support.

The Prime Minster also pointed out the requirements to be completed in the agricultural sector including growing coffee, seasonal crops, perennial crops and industrial raw material crops. There are about 49000 coffee acrage in the whole country. If the per acre high yielding can be carried out, the benefits will be different.

The effort for the increase of per acre yield is wanted to encourage rather than the increase of cultivated acreage. The income from coffee will increase in per acre high yielding and the per capital income of the grower will development resulting the increasing of country’s GDP.

If coffee products can be exported, the country’s income will increase and it will facilitate greatly for the development of the country etc. ssAfter the meeting, the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister and party cordially greeted the coffee entrepreneurs, it’s learnt.
