Indigenous women compete in Bolivia bicycle race

Women in the Andean region of Bolivia took part in the "Cholitas bicycle race" on Saturday at more than 4,000 metres above sea level wearing their iconic long, colourful skirts.

120 Aymara women between the ages of 14 and 50 cycled 8 kilometres on the plains of El Alto, neighbouring La Paz, to empower indigenous women and encourage sport.This event generates more and more interest from women every year, which motivates them to use bicycles.
