US Coast Guard rescues man after cruise ship fall

A US Coast Guard helicopter rescued a man who was reported to have fallen overboard from a cruise ship into the Gulf of Mexico about 32 kilometers off Southwest Pass, Louisiana on Thanksgiving Day.

New Orleans television station WDSU said that the man was reported missing from the Carnival Valor about 2:30 pm on Wednesday. He was rescued on Thursday evening. Video provided by the Coast Guard showed the man in the water, waiving to the rescue helicopter and then being hoisted out of the water. The Coast Guard said the man was reported to be in stable condition.
