New premier appointed in Peru, fifth for Castillo

Peruvian President Pedro Castillo swore in a new Premier on Friday, the fifth since he took office on July 2021.

Betsy Chávez Chino takes the position as head of the cabinet, following the resignation of Anibal Torres on Thursday.Under Peruvian law, the resignation of the Prime Minister requires the resignation of the other 18 secretaries.The president will have to form a fifth cabinet in just over a year since he took office.
