Fans react as hosts Qatar stumble to Ecuador

Qatar's first ever World Cup match ended in dismay for an overmatched team and with a place in unwanted soccer history.

The tournament opened with Qatar getting outplayed in a 2-0 loss to Ecuador in front of 67,372 fans at Al Bayt Stadium.

Marcelo Rodrigez, Ecuador Fan said "I feel very good. It's amazing. The game is very, very beautiful. My team is strong enough to go to the next step. But, we're going to go."  

Omer Al Daha, Qatar Fan said "I think they should play better next time. Maybe they were a bit defensive as it's their first participation in the World Cup. But, I think hopefully starting the next games they are going to be pushing forward more."Ecuador captain Enner Valencia scored both of his team's goals in the first half.A host team had never lost its opening game in 92 years of soccer's biggest event.
