The zoo says the cub, named Nixon, is about eight months old and weighs 28 pounds.Oakland Zoo veterinarian Dr. Alex Herman calls Nixon "a tough little guy" and says they hope to nurse him back to health.
He's been put under heat lamps to keep warm, been given baths to fight the skin infection, and fed plenty of bear chow. The cub was found recently by residents in the Lake Tahoe area near a retail shop named Nixon's. He was brought to the zoo by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
