A British activist swam across the Red Sea, from Saudi Arabia to Egypt in order to raise awareness of the effect of climate change on the world's coral reefs. Lewis Pugh, a British-South African endurance swimmer, made the 123.4-kilometer trip in around 16 days, before arriving in Hurghada in Egypt.
He made the trip, accompanied by Egyptian swimmer, Mostafa Zaki, ahead of the upcoming COP27 climate summit, that will take place in Sharm el Sheikh. The Red Sea is home to many coral reefs which are among the most diverse in the world.
