The country's central region has been the hardest hit in recent weeks by torrential rains while another mudslide destroyed the nearby city of Las Tejerías, just one week ago. Homes and office buildings were covered in mud along the neighborhood's main street, which was scattered with large boulders and debris. Domestic employees have been attempting to flee and go back home after the houses were destroyed. Some of the injured were evacuated in helicopters with the help of firefighters and other volunteers.
