Brazil's presidential candidates at first debate

Brazil's presidential candidates Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and incumbent Jair Bolsonaro on Sunday took part in a first presidential debate since the first round of the election, just weeks before millions go to the polls for a second time.The debate was the first televised debate where they exclusively faced each other.

Da Silva accused his rival of neglect during the COVID-19 pandemic, claiming Bolsonaro did not take the virus seriously. Bolsonaro claimed that "everything had corruption" in former president da Silva's government, with unfinished public projects and debt left behind.The debate was watched by millions of voters but most analysts say its unlikely to have much effect on the final vote tally for either of the two candidates.
