Dozens of Venezuelan migrants came Thursday to get bus tickets at the Mexico City bus terminal to continue their journey towards the U.S. after the U.S. announcement of a new immigration policy.
The U.S. and Mexico said Wednesday that the Biden administration agreed to accept up to 24,000 Venezuelan migrants at U.S. airports while Mexico agreed to take back Venezuelans who come to the U.S. over land.
Many of the migrants outside the bus station say they received their transit permits yesterday in Oaxaca - before the announcement of the new immigration policy - with which they hope not to be returned to Venezuela. These permits are valid for seven days, so they believe they will be stranded in Mexico if they do not make it across the border in time.
