Efforts for Children : Literature Festivals to be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon

Children’s Literature Festivals will be held in Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon Region in the coming November. Children’s books from printing houses, children’s poetry recitation and children’s painting competitions will be added to this festival.  

Pyone Pyone Aye, Director, National Library of Myanmar, said " The upcoming Children’s Literature Festivals will include exhibition of rare books, journals and magazines. We’d invite students from schools in Nay Pyi Taw to take part in the events including painting, quiz, coloring the pictures and poetry recitation."

The director added that Children’s Literature Festivals are to expand the knowledge horizon of children.

Pyone Pyone Aye, Director, National Library of Myanmar, said " We collected and bought many genres of books not only from local but also from abroad concerning with the Children’s literature. I want to the children to study the literature. The prices of books from abroad are high, so, in this festival, children can read them at the festival for free. We also have a collection of Encyclopedia for the children."

The National Library of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw also has a library for children. The National Library of Myanmar in Yangon holds storytelling and Let’s Read programs every Saturday.
