







Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung met with the officials from foreign investment hotels in Yangon on Saturday. The Union Minister said the Government and the Ministry is providing assistance for development of tourism sector.
The rental payment for hotels has been postpone for six months, and 50% discount on the original rental fee was also granted to 21 months. Moreover, the license fees were also exempted for a year.
The international airlines have been resumed starting April, and tourists from 79 countries have already visited the country as the e-business and e-tourist visas have been granted.
Moreover, there are also increased in domestic tourism after easing COVID-19 restrictions in October last year. The Union Minister pointed out that the hotel businesses will gain its benefits along with the booming tourism, and urged all to make preparation measures for providing better services.
The Government also allowed visa exemption for Russia and 8 ASEAN member countries. He added that tourism industry will be in its normal operation starting this open season, and it could bring benefits to the hotel industry that has been operating with both foreign and local investment.
The Union Minister later attended the opening ceremony of Tour Guide (Basic) and closing ceremony of Russian Speaking Class. The Union Minister urged all to provide better services to the tourists, and to become professionals in the industry.
The Russian Ambassador to Myanmar also made a speech, saying that the tourism industry between the two countries will be promoted, and more tourists from Russia will visit Myanmar in the near future. The Union Minister and the Ambassador later presented awards to the outstanding trainees and the completion certificates.
