Russia opens criminal case on Crimea bridge blast

A spokesperson for the Russian Investigative Committee said on Saturday a criminal case was being opened by the committee into an explosion that caused the partial collapse of a bridge linking the Crimean Peninsula with Russia. Svetlana Petrenko said the explosion and fire led to the collapse of two sections of one of the two links of the automobile bridge.

She added, "The investigators of the Investigative Committee are in the process of discovering the circumstances and persons complicit in committing the crime." The 19-kilometer bridge across the Kerch Strait linking the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov opened in 2018 and is the longest in Europe.
