Scholz on energy crisis

The German Chancellor on Friday said that he took the opportunity of the gathering of European leaders in Prague to "explain" German measures to combat the looming energy crisis, adding it "certainly helped to clear up misunderstandings".

Olaf Scholz made the remarks as EU leaders struggled to bridge significant differences over a natural gas price cap as winter approaches and Russia’s war in Ukraine fuels a major energy crisis, driving up prices for consumers and businesses.

Commenting on concerns about the potential use of tactical nuclear weapons, Scholz said "the use of nuclear weapons is unacceptable" and would be "dangerous for the world".
