Modern Farming System: Better than the traditional farming system

There are 10 farming zones in Sagaing region such as cattle, poultry, and goats etc. The department of Livestock, breeding and Veterinary has urged people to breed livestock with modern methods rather than the traditional farming.

Sagaing region is a home of largest number of livestock and breeding sector included cattle, pig, sheep as well as gayal in Naga region, local chickens, and layer chicken.

Dr.Than Naing, Head Officer (Sagaing), Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary Dept. said "We are carrying out breeding and prevention from disease. We try to be self-sufficient in the breeding sector such as poultry, pigs and fishes etc. In Sagaing region, there are 10 farming zones including 1 dairy cow zone, 1 quail zone and 7 layer chicken zones.

The traditional breeding system have many disadvantages and need to more focus on latest commercial farming system and it will be greatly beneficial for local people."

Dr.Ba Si, Deputy Director (Sagaing), Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary Dept. said "I would like to recommend consulting with relevant experts and cooperating with the departments. So we will know that how they are working and what to support them. For the livestock and breeding sector, the latest modern farming system is better than the traditional ways. "

The Livestock, Breeding and Veterinary department takes field visit to give the educational discussion, lectures and training to local people at the relevant townships and villages.
