Central Committee Meeting: VC delivered a remark at the meeting

The 3rd meeting of the State-Level Central Committee on the Administration and Management of Natural Resources in Coastal Areas was held at the Ingyin Hall of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental conservation in the afternoon on Monday and Chairman of State-level Central Committee on Administration and Management of Natural Resources in Coastal Areas Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivered a speech at the meeting.

Also present at the meeting were the member of central committee union ministers U Khin Maung Yi, deputy ministers, permanent securities, director generals, responsible officials from the office of commander in chief (Navy) while chief ministers from regions and states and officials participated in the meeting via video conferencing.

At the meeting, Chairman of Central Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister said that this meeting is held to report on implementation of the decisions at its second meeting and to implement the future tasks.

As the results of the coordinated implementations regarding with the Administration and Management of Natural Resources in Coastal Areas by holding the central committee meetings, the Integrated Coastal Management-ICM can be formulated, formation of Myanmar Coast Guard, final drafting of marine pollution control law, designation of fishing restricted areas where there are high values of marine ecosystem and great extent of Marine biodiversity, extension of mangrove forests, forest reserves and public forest reserves at the regions and states of coastal region, establishment of mangrove forest and large groups of shady trees at 60 townships of coastal region including Coco Island, uplifting rule of law at marine area etc.

The state viewed the natural resources of coastal region as the resources that can be created great potentials for the sustainable development of the country and aimed at administration and management with long term preservation for the next generations. The United Nations is implementing the 17 objectives of sustainable development goals and the countries formulated Blue Economy principles and the regional partner countries are also implementing it.

The blue economy is the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and jobs while preserving the health of ocean ecosystem. The two principles of blue economy are the protection and restoration of natural resources and the implementation of utilizing sustainable development industries and opportunities at the sea, ocean and coastal regions etc.

Next, the video clip of the educating knowledge on the coastal region was screened. Then, on behalf of the secretary of central committee, director general U Htay Aung of the forest department clarified the completion of implementing tasks of the committee.

Afterward, the member of central committee union minister U Khin Maung Yi, regions and states chief ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, directors general and officials reported the related sectors and the vice chairman of state administration council deputy prime minister supplemented on the reports and coordinated necessaries.

Then, the Chairman of State-level Central Committee on Administration and Management of Natural Resources in Coastal Areas Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister delivered a speech of conclusion and the meeting was concluded.
