Migrant rescue

The Greek Coast Guard rescued 56 migrants on Saturday night, about 33 nautical miles west of Kefalonia island and transported them to the northwestern port of Igoumenitsa on the mainland the following morning.

According to an official Coast Guard statement, the migrants initially refused help from nearby ships and Greek authorities, but agreed to be rescued later, during the night, when the weather conditions worsened.
