Ethiopian FM urges action over climate threat

Ethiopia's Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen highlighted the impact of climate change in his address to United Nations General Assembly on Saturday.

Mekonnen, who is also his country's deputy prime minister, also reiterated Ethiopia's commitment to "equity and cooperation in the use of transboundary rivers and shared prosperity with all riparian countries."

Demeke Mekonnen, Ethiopian Foreign Minister said "I reiterate Ethiopia's commitment to equity and cooperation in the use of transboundary rivers and shared prosperity with all riparian countries. We will continue in good faith the trilateral negotiation under the auspices of the African Union to reach a mutually acceptable outcome." 

Mekonnen called on the world leaders "to translate rhetoric into action".
