Protest against bull fighting outside Spain bull-ring

Thousands of people gathered outside Madrid's Las Ventas bull-ring on Saturday to protest against the country's bull-fighting tradition.

During the demo, which was organized by the Spanish animal rights political party, protesters held up handkerchiefs similar to those used in the San Fermin festivities in Pamplona, which include a bull-run and bull-fight.

Campaigners are demanding the end of bullfighting in Spain and also other activities involving bulls, including the so-called becerradas, which uses young calves rather than adult bulls. Protesters called on politicians to legally ban the practice.
