Egyptian president meets Sudan's leader in Cairo

Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi met with Sudan's leader in Cairo for talks that focused on ties between the two neighbors, officials said. The President welcomed Head of the Sudan's ruling sovereign council, at the Cairo international airport.

According to a statement from the Egyptian presidency, the two leaders held talks in the Itihadiya presidential palace. The statement offered only generalities about bilateral ties including the trade, economic and military cooperation. They also discussed regional topics including Ethiopia's controversial, unfinished dam on the Nile River's main tributary.
