







A Research Symposium on "Regional history, Myanmar Chronicles and Historical Values” was held at National Library (Nay Pyi Taw) on Friday.
The symposium was organized by the Department of Historical Research and National Library under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture with the aims to support the creation of a coherent history of Myanmar and to nurture the historians.
Union Minister U Ko Ko gave an opening speech, saying that Myanmar history begins with the Chronicles. There are various types of Chronicles with the efforts of the ancestors for the study of the successive generations about the greatness of Myanmar.
The Union Minister pointed out that without understanding the situation of the past and history, the reform works of the present days will be in vain. It was followed by reading of research papers by the concerned officials, which includes the studies of the old city of Myawady as described in Kayin and Mon histories, historical values of Taungoo Chronicles and history of Salay through the historical and contemporary evidences.
