Convenience For Pilgrims: Escalators At The Shwemawdaw Pagoda Installing

The two escalators are installed at the Shwemawdaw Pagoda under the leading of the Bago region government.

To install the Hyundai moving walks escalators at the pagoda, the region government signed MoU with integral international limited on 1st June 2022.

Member of Board of Trustees explained about the status of completing process of installing escalators at the Pagoda.

Lu Pe Win, Member, Board of Trustees said “We installed two elevators for ascend and descend. The total amount of the expenses for installation is 395 million Kyats. In the west stairway, we have an escalator that has a capacity to lift a maximum of 10 people. Now, the new moving walking escalator can support better convenience. The pagoda was crowded with visitors on public holidays. When the installation process finishes, it will facilitate the convenience for the pilgrims.”

The test running will be carried in next week and fulfilled the necessary. It’s expected to hand over it on 5th October. That is the first-time using walking escalators among the pagodas in Bago Township. Due to the government’s endeavors for the people, the status of living standard of the local people becomes higher, Lu Phae Win added.

San Ni, Member, Board of Trustees said “By riding Elevator, pilgrims can pay homage to the pagoda easily and conveniently. Among the visitors, elders, disabled persons and children also included. Moving walking escalator is flat that is more convenient for the visitors especially for elders.”

The installation of escalator which is 100 ft in length and 11 ft in wide has competed 80 %.

The aim of the installation is to be convenient for the visitors especially for the elders, disability and children to pay homage to the pagoda easily and conveniently, it’s reported.
