Energy Sector: Inspection of pipeline repair, replacement and pressure testing

Union Minister for Energy U Myo Myint Oo on Saturday inspected the Magway-Pyawbwe-Pyaynyaung-Pinpet  natural gas pipeline repair, pipe replacement and pressure testing works.

During the inspection, the Union Minister inspected the Ywar Taw Compressor Station in Mandalay Region and heard report on the natural gas pipeline repair and maintenance works.

The Union Minister also inspected the Pinpet natural gas control and distribution station near Taunggyi where the natural gas is sent to No. (2) steel plant (Pinpet), and heard report on the plan to release natural gas and the amount of natural gas to be used and the required pressure conditions when the Pinpet steel plant reopens.

To meet the natural gas needed for the plant, it is necessary to coordinate the distribution of domestic natural gas from the Shwe Project and to focus on upgrading pipelines and completing the replacement works in accordance with the set standards on time.

The Magway-Pyawbwe-Pyaynyaung-Pinpet natural gas pipeline repair, pipe replacement and pressure testing works project began in April and it’s now 77.5 percent completed.
