



Myanmar exported over 680,000 tons of beans and pulses during the 5 months of 2022-2023 fiscal year.
From April to August, the export of beans and pulses earned over 532 million US dollars via sea routes and border trade camps.
Myanmar mostly exports Mung bean by sea route to abroad.
Min Aung Aye, Deputy Director, Trade Policy Division, Trade Department said "According to the temporary list of exporting, over 542,000 tons of various kind of beans with over 436 million USD could be exported to abroad via sea route from April to August in 2022-2023 fiscal year. Similarly, 140,000 tons of beans with 96 million USD were exported via border trades."
Previously, Myanmar mainly relies on the India’s market for bean export, and at present, the export market is expanded to China as well.
Min Aung Aye, Deputy Director, Trade Policy Division, Trade Department said "We are implementing to export good quality beans. About 170,000 tons of black gram, over 300,000 tons of Mung bean, over 40,000 tons of Pigeon Pea, over 20,000 tons of Cow pea and over 40,000 tons of kidney pea were exported during 5 months period."
There are about 37 countries where the beans are being exported. At present, the most bean exporting countries are China and India.
