The Los Angeles Department of Public Health says that one health care worker in the county has contracted the monkeypox virus. Rita Singhal, Director, Disease Control Bureau  said "What I can say is what I know from discussions with CDC is that there are about eight health care workers worldwide that have been noted to have monkeypox due to workplace exposure. There have been a portion of those that are due to needle stick injury, not all of them. And I can say locally for us here, it was not directly a needle stick injury, but it was an exposure at the worksite."

Los Angeles confirms first death from Monkeypox Disease on September 13. But, U.S. cases continue to drop.
